OZEV Approved Installers

An OZEV approved installer is a chargepoint fitter authorised by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles to claim the grant. Without one there is no grant.

OZEV-Authorised Installers Only

OZEV chargepoint grants all go to the installer, never to you. The installer deducts the grant from your invoice, fits the chargepoint, and then claims the money from OZEV by sending photos of the work plus a copy of the invoice.

Only installers OZEV has authorised get paid, and only for chargepoint models on its eligible chargepoint list. If the fitter is not on the register, they cannot claim, and you would end up paying the full price.

Checking That an Installer Is OZEV Approved

  1. Search on GOV.UK

The official chargepoint installer finder shows the authorised firms near you once you put in your postcode.

  2. Ask for the installer number

Ask the installer for the number OZEV gave them. It appears on your grant application, so they should hand it over without delay.

  3. Checking the Charger

Find out which chargepoint model they intend to fit, then confirm it is on the GOV.UK list of eligible chargepoints.

Questions to Ask Before You Book

QuestionWhy it matters
Is the quote for the full installed price? The quote sets the grant, since the home grant equals 75% of what it costs to buy and fit the socket.
Will the invoice show the grant taken off? Before OZEV pays the installer, it wants an invoice showing the total cost with the grant taken off.
Can my parking space take a charger safely? The installer is required to assess the space. If the property is a flat, the freeholder or managing agent has to agree first.
Will you register the chargepoint?Registering the new chargepoint for you is normally done by the installer, according to the Energy Saving Trust.

If There Is a Problem

Take any problem to the installer first. For a workplace chargepoint, once 10 working days pass with no fix, you can tell OZEV about the installer using the contact route that the scheme's GOV.UK page gives.

Under the home grant for flats and renters, GOV.UK lists an email contact for the scheme when the installer cannot sort it out.

Which Grant Fits Your Situation?

Your grant determines the installer you need: a home one for flats, renters and landlords, or a commercial one for workplaces.
